Kathmandu: Bottlers Nepal Limited, the official manufacturer and distributor of Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Kinley in Nepal, has recorded a total trade of Rs 12.06 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
The company, along with its subsidiary Bottlers Nepal Terai, continues to dominate the beverage market, but recent figures reveal a concerning downward trend in sales and market share.
Bottlers Nepal Limited alone generated Rs 7.10 billion, while its Terai-based subsidiary contributed Rs 4.967 billion during the same period.
Despite these substantial revenues, the company has faced a significant decline in performance compared to previous years. Bottlers Nepal’s income dropped by nearly 10 percent in FY 2024 compared to FY 2023, with its market share shrinking from 61 percent to 54 percent in just nine months.
The company attributes this slump to halted exports and intense price competition.
Financial pressures are also mounting, as both companies have sought short-term loans worth Rs 7.273 billion.
Bottlers Nepal Terai, which holds a 38 percent market share, reported a 15 percent decline in trade this fiscal year. Historical data shows a worrying trend—Bottlers Nepal’s revenue fell from Rs 12.64 billion in 2023 to Rs 11.37 billion in 2024, while its Terai subsidiary saw a drop from Rs 9.40 billion to Rs 8.80 billion in the same period.
Despite these challenges, the company remains a key player in Nepal’s beverage industry, with a network of 250 dealers nationwide. However, with rising competition and weakening demand, the future growth of Coca-Cola’s Nepal operations remains uncertain.
Industry experts are closely watching whether the company can reverse this downward trend in the coming fiscal year.
