Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stressed the need for a shift in state thinking and policy reforms to achieve economic prosperity in Nepal.
Speaking during a meeting with newly elected officials of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) at his private residence in Khumaltar on Monday, Prachanda highlighted the crucial role of the private sector in driving the country’s economic development.
According to his secretariat, Prachanda pointed out that a significant transformation in the state’s “mindset” is essential to create an enabling environment for the private sector. He underlined that the goal of prosperity cannot be reached without adopting policies and structural mechanisms that facilitate the private sector.
“We cannot achieve prosperity without preparing policies and structures that ease the role of the private sector,” said Prachanda. “The state must develop a mindset of facilitation.”
During the meeting, CNI officials also reflected on the cooperative environment that existed during Prachanda’s tenure as Prime Minister and reiterated the private sector’s vital contribution to the country’s economic advancement.
