NEA proposes building transmission lines under public-private partnership model


Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has introduced a proposal to construct electricity transmission lines under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The authority has publicly invited expressions of interest (EOI) for the construction of four different transmission lines. Interested parties can submit their applications within 30 days.

NEA has requested EOIs from private firms under an annual revenue-based competitive bidding process. The selected projects will be developed under the Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model.

EOIs for the following transmission line projects have been sought: Khimti-Dhalkebar (400 kV) – Estimated cost: US $80 million, Arun-Inaruwa (400 kV) – Estimated cost: US $80 million, Tingla-Dudhkoshi-Dhalkebar (400 kV) – Estimated cost: US $142 million, and Lapsiphedi-Tinpipale (220 kV) – Estimated cost: US $10.8 million.
