Sagar Distillery sees sales surge to Rs 180 million, Plans IPO to repay malt spirit loans


Kathmandu: Sagar Distillery, the producer of liquor brands including NEPSE Bulls and Governor, recorded a business turnover of Rs 180 million in the last fiscal year—an increase of Rs 20 million compared to the previous year.

Based on this performance, the company’s average monthly sales stand at Rs 15 million, with a daily sales figure of around Rs 500,000.

In 2024, the distillery sold alcohol worth Rs 177 million, with additional products like Lollipop, Royal Bew, Grey Wolf, and Berries & Blues also contributing to the company’s growing portfolio.

Founded in 2014, Sagar Distillery became a public limited company in 2023. It produces high-quality vodka, whisky, and gin, with an annual production capacity of 5 million liters.

The ownership structure includes Ashutosh Khetan with a 14.52 percent stake, Alka Goyal holding 10.63 percent, and Sandeep Jalan with 9.14 percent. The company is led by CEO Saurabh Karanjit.

Sagar Distillery had sold products worth Rs 66 million in 2022, which grew to Rs 94 million in 2023. The launch of its flagship brands NEPSE Bulls and Governor helped the company double its sales volume and return to profitability in 2025, registering a net profit margin of 1.35 percent on total sales for the last fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the company’s total investment, which was only Rs 4 million in 2024, has grown to around Rs 40 million in the latest fiscal year.

Sagar Distillery is now preparing to issue 1,452,000 shares in an IPO, aiming to raise capital primarily to repay loans incurred for importing malt spirits. The company has already submitted its IPO application to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
