Modern cancer hospital with Rs 2.45 billion investment to be built in Janakpur


Kathmandu: A state-of-the-art cancer hospital and research centre, costing over Rs 2.45 billion, will be constructed in Ward 25 of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City in Dhanusha district, Madhesh Province.

The Vinay Tara Cancer Trust is investing more than Rs 2.45 billion to establish the Vinay Tara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.

The company has already submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report to the Ministry of Forests and Environment for approval.

Currently, the hospital has 25 beds, but it will be expanded into a 200-bed facility with advanced medical services.

The hospital will be built on 3 bigha, 13 kattha, and 11.5 dhur of land, with a minimum plot area of 3,000 square metres. The construction will cover 16 percent of the total land, while the hospital building itself will be four stories tall.

The hospital will have 16.89 percent ground coverage, with 25 percent green space and 25 percent parking area. The parking facility will include 4,000 sq. meters of underground parking and 7,000 sq. meters of external parking, accommodating 94 four-wheelers, 49 two-wheelers, and 10 ambulances.

The hospital will offer general, specialist, and super-specialty services, including: Radiology and Radiotherapy, Pathology and Medical Oncology, Cancer Surgery, Pharmacy and Emergency Services, Mortuary, Forensic, and Lab Facilities, Kitchen, Store, and Other Support Services.

The hospital will collaborate with renowned cancer specialists from the United States for treatment and research. This initiative is expected to boost medical tourism in Nepal, attracting patients from across the region.

The construction is expected to be completed within 36 months. Once operational, the hospital will employ 306 staff members, with priority given to local human resources who will receive specialized training to enhance their skills.
