Kathmandu: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has made public the income and expenditure report of the first edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The financial disclosure was approved during CAN’s central executive committee meeting held on Thursday, where the Governing Council’s submitted report was reviewed and endorsed.
According to CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, the inaugural edition of the NPL generated a total income of Rs 27 crore 69 lakh 64 thousand 818 (more than Rs 270 million). Meanwhile, the total expenditure for organizing the event stood at Rs 20 crore 15 lakh 73 thousand 559 (more than 200 million).
The financial report shows that the NPL concluded with a net profit of Rs 7 crore 53 lakh 91 thousand 259. Out of this profit, 50 percent — approximately Rs 4 crore 37 lakh 40 thousand 470 — was distributed among the eight franchise teams.
The remaining Rs 3 crore 16 lakh 50 thousand 789 was divided between the provincial cricket associations, who received Rs 70 lakh, and CAN itself, which retained Rs 2 crore 46 lakh 50 thousand 789.
CAN stated that this detailed report would serve as a useful foundation to organize future editions of the NPL in a more effective and structured manner. The association emphasized that Thursday’s meeting, while addressing other agenda items, was primarily focused on discussing the financial report of the league.
The release of these figures marks a significant step in the financial transparency of Nepali cricket and sets the tone for better planning and revenue distribution in future domestic cricket tournaments.
