Stable and clear policies crucial for long-term mobility sector growth: NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya

Kathmandu: Ritu Singh Vaidya, President of the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), has stressed the need for stable and transparent policies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the mobility sector in Nepal.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the “NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025” held on Wednesday at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, President Vaidya highlighted the growing significance of the automobile sector in the country’s economic and employment landscape.

“In Nepal, the automobile sector alone contributes approximately 4.7 percent of employment in the service industry. Much like health, tourism, and financial services, this sector also indirectly connects thousands of Nepalis to job opportunities,” said Vaidya. “To ensure the long-term sustainability of the mobility sector, we need stable and clear policies.”

She noted that the increasing import of electric vehicles (EVs) has created new employment opportunities, especially in areas such as charging infrastructure and technical services. In response, NAIMA has been investing in skill development in collaboration with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Ministry of Education.

“The automobile sector in Nepal has significantly contributed to employment generation, green technology, and infrastructure development,” Vaidya said. “NAIMA is actively engaged in a ‘Workforce Development’ campaign in partnership with CTEVT and the Ministry of Education to create inclusive and future-oriented job opportunities for youth.”

She further elaborated that NAIMA was established as a unified platform representing both vehicle importers and manufacturers. The organization has been working towards importing and producing vehicles, establishing service centers, developing skilled human resources, and ensuring quality services from urban to rural areas across the country.

The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025 aims to showcase the evolution of mobility, promote green transportation, and foster collaboration between stakeholders for a sustainable automotive future in Nepal.
