Government seeks clarification from 22 construction firms over poor performance

Kathmandu: The government has issued a seven-day notice to Kanchharam Construction and 21 other construction companies to provide written clarification over what it described as unsatisfactory performance.

Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, had earlier given the companies an initial 30-day deadline to explain shortcomings in their work.

On Friday, the PPMO published a list of companies that failed to submit their responses within the given period, granting them a final seven days to clarify in writing.

According to procurement rules, companies providing unsatisfactory explanations risk being blacklisted, which would bar them from participating in any public procurement process during the blacklist period.

The PPMO said the latest notice follows recommendations from relevant offices to blacklist these firms.

Among them, the Nuwakot Road Division Office has recommended blacklisting six companies: Garibi Uddhar Gyanendra Ghale & Kumar Nirman Sewa, led by Tempa Nurbu Tamang, Gaurigai Nirman Sewa, led by Rewakumar Poudel, Loben Nirman Sewa, led by Raju Titung Tamang, Manakamana Construction Pvt. Ltd., led by Nabin Ghale, Shilakanya Devi Construction Pvt. Ltd., led by Sanumaya Lama, and Langlangramane Jyarsa JV, led by Gosbahadur Tamang.
