60,367 hectares of fertile land gets irrigation facility in Dang


Dang: The Water Resources and irrigation Development Division Office, Dang, has completed 269 projects among the 271 projects in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.

Office Chief, Krishna Bahadur BK, shared that out of Rs 327 million budget allocated for those projects Rs 318 million budget (97.27 per cent) was spent.

He added that 87 projects under the water-induced disaster reduction and management programme, 145 projects towards irrigation project, maintenance, improvement, and expansion, 32 projects towards deep irrigation projects based on middle and alternative projects and five reservoir projects were completed.

However, two plans of irrigation project, maintenance, improvement and expansion have not been implemented.

The Office has now been carrying out activities of three multi-year projects. Contract agreement of Jhingi Babai Irrigation project, Ghorahi-3 and Gharichour Irrigation Project, Bangalachuli-7 has already been signed while tender has been announced for the Bastikhola Irrigation Project, Shantinagar-3 and 4.

The Office has constructed 162-kilometer canal so far since 2072 BS as well as constructed 67 lift irrigation projects, 67 pump houses. Additional 7,632 hectares of land got irrigation facility as well as strengthened irrigation facility in 31,583 hectares of land.

Similarly, total 72.77 kilometer embankments was constructed which protected 12,546 hectares of land and 8,658 houses.
