Kathmandu: Nepal’s stock market slipped into negative territory on Monday, with the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropping 28.44 points to close at 2,821.92, reversing last Thursday’s 18.30-point gain.
While the index fell, market turnover showed a marked improvement. Total trading value reached Rs 10.21 billion, significantly higher than last Thursday’s Rs 8.33 billion.
The session saw mixed performance across listed companies, with 30 stocks advancing and 220 declining. River Falls Power Company emerged as the day’s top gainer, with its share price jumping 9.99 percent. In contrast, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha posted the largest loss, sliding 7.64 percent.
Sector-wise, development banks led the downturn, falling 2.43 percent, closely followed by the microfinance sector with a 2.33 percent drop.
