NATTA to lead wellness tourism promotion with new partnership

Kathmandu: Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), the umbrella body of travel entrepreneurs, has taken the lead in promoting wellness tourism in Nepal.

NATTA has signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DAI Global UK and Nepal in Business to advance and develop this emerging tourism segment.

As part of the initiative, the first phase will include specialized training programs aimed at building skilled human resources for wellness tourism. Two training sessions will be conducted within the next three months, each accommodating up to 35 participants.

The programme’s effectiveness will be assessed before expanding further, NATTA President Kumar Mani Thapaliya said.

Under the agreement, the collaboration will focus on capacity building for stakeholders in Nepal’s wellness tourism sector. This will cover areas such as tourism package design, marketing, accreditation, and certification processes.

NATTA President Thapaliya signed the agreement on behalf of NATTA, while team leader Ratis Basnyat signed for DAI.

The initiative aligns with Nepal’s Tourism Policy 2025, which emphasizes wellness tourism, and the Nepal Tourism Board’s budget priorities. With nature-based tourism gaining traction in the country, NATTA sees wellness tourism as the next focus area, requiring specialized training and coordinated development efforts.
