Tourism Board teams up with TikTok to promote Nepal’s destinations

Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and TikTok have announced a strategic partnership aimed at promoting Nepal’s unique natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure experiences to audiences worldwide.

At the heart of the initiative is the hashtag #LifetimeExperience, a creator-led campaign designed to provide exclusive in-app experiences. The campaign will help travelers discover Nepal’s must-visit destinations as well as hidden gems that are often overlooked.

Under the collaboration, the NTB and TikTok will work with renowned domestic and international travel creators. These creators will be invited to visit Nepal, document their journeys through short, engaging videos, and showcase the country’s natural and cultural treasures to global audiences.

Throughout the campaign, creators will produce content highlighting Nepal’s landscapes, traditions, festivals, art, cuisine, and community practices, which will then be shared on TikTok.

The NTB will host the visiting creators, facilitating travel, hospitality, and expert guidance to ensure smooth access to Kathmandu Valley and other destinations.

Dipak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board, said the partnership marks a new chapter in introducing Nepal to the world.

“This collaboration connects TikTok’s global reach with Nepal’s unforgettable experiences. We believe it will inspire more travelers to choose Nepal as their next destination,” he stated.

Fardous Motakin, TikTok’s Head of Public Policy and Government Relations for South Asia, expressed excitement about the collaboration.

“We are thrilled to work with the NTB to showcase Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warm hospitality to the world. Nepal offers some of the most extraordinary natural and cultural experiences globally,” she said.

At the signing ceremony, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, emphasized that the partnership goes beyond international promotion. He said it will also focus on empowering local communities and creators.

“Workshops and capacity-building programmes planned under this initiative will equip Nepali youth, entrepreneurs, and content creators with the skills to showcase their heritage, culture, and businesses,” he noted.

Minister Pandey further stressed that tourism is not just an industry but a backbone of Nepal’s socio-economic development.

“It creates jobs, supports small and medium enterprises, empowers rural communities, and safeguards cultural traditions. This partnership ensures these benefits are shared more broadly and inclusively,” he said.
