NEPSE surges by 56.69 points, crosses 2,822 mark on Wednesday


Kathmandu: The stock market witnessed a significant rise on Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbing by 56.69 points, or 2.04 percent, to close at 2,822.78 points.

On the previous trading days, NEPSE had risen by 4.83 points on Tuesday and 21.30 points on Monday.

The total transaction volume on Wednesday reached Rs 7.68 billion, compared to Rs 4.09 billion on Tuesday.

Out of the companies traded, 232 saw their share prices increase, while 19 recorded a decline.

Development Hydropower Company’s shares hit the positive circuit breaker, while Samata Microfinance’s share price rose by 9.36 percent.

By sector, banking shares rose by 1.51 percent, development banks by 3.59 percent, finance by 2.15 percent, and hotels and tourism by 1.71 percent.

Similarly, hydropower shares increased by 2 percent, investment by 2.38 percent, life insurance by 2.39 percent, manufacturing by 2.74 percent, microfinance by 1.25 percent, and non-life insurance by 1.72 percent.
