Death toll rises as Gen Z protests turn deadly in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Gen Z-led demonstrations in Kathmandu’s New Baneshwar have turned increasingly violent, with multiple fatalities reported on Monday.

Medical officials confirmed that at least four protesters died while receiving treatment at the Trauma Centre following clashes between demonstrators and police forces.

In addition, two more deaths were reported at Civil Hospital, bringing the confirmed toll higher as hospitals struggled to treat dozens of injured participants.

Separately, another protester was reportedly killed after being shot near Gate No. 1 of the Federal Parliament building, where clashes had intensified earlier in the day.

The full number of casualties remains unclear, with some sources saying that the number has risen to eight, as protests continue and authorities impose heavy security measures, including curfews in New Baneshwar and surrounding areas.
