Supreme Court issues short term interim order suspending dismissal of Insurance Authority chief

Kathmandu: Nepal’s Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order halting the government’s decision to dismiss Sharad Ojha, Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority.

On Monday, a single bench of Justice Saranga Subedi issued the interim order, instructing that the dismissal decision not be implemented immediately. The Court also summoned both parties for a hearing on the interim petition.

Ojha had filed a writ petition with the Supreme Court a day after the government removed him from his position.

The bench ordered the government not to move ahead with the dismissal decision or initiate the process of appointing a new chairman until further court proceedings.

Meanwhile, 14 candidates have already applied for the post of Chairman at the Authority.
