Jhapa: In a dramatic escalation of unrest, the Communist Party of Nepal–Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) office in Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s home district of Jhapa was set ablaze by protesters on Tuesday.
The arson followed violent clashes on Monday during a demonstration organized by the Gen-Z movement, where government crackdowns left 19 people dead. Enraged demonstrators retaliated by targeting the ruling party’s office in Oli’s stronghold.
By early Tuesday morning, protests had intensified across the country. Offices of both the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were attacked by demonstrators, while the homes of political leaders also came under assault amid growing public fury.
