Kathmandu: The bodies of those killed during Monday’s protests by the new generation of youth, known as Gen Z, have been taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) for postmortem examination.
According to Dr Gopal Chaudhary, head of the hospital’s forensic department, 16 bodies have so far been brought to the hospital.
“The arrival of bodies is ongoing. Sixteen have arrived so far, and others may be in different hospitals,” Dr Chaudhary said.
He added that the postmortem process has not yet begun.
“We cannot start the procedure until we receive official authorization from the police administration,” Chaudhary explained. “Once the letter arrives, the postmortem will begin.”
The bodies received so far have been placed in cold storage. Monday’s protests resulted in more than 400 injuries and at least 19 confirmed deaths.
