Kathmandu: The Baneshwor branch of Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) was vandalized as protesters forcefully entered the premises on Tuesday.
The bank sustained damage. Details of the extent of losses have not yet been made public.
According to officials, protesters had also attacked the same branch on Monday.
The Gen Z-led demonstrations, which intensified Tuesday, have begun causing significant harm to both public and private property.
The vandalized RBB branch lies behind the International Conference Center, which also houses the Federal Parliament building. The protests turned more violent on Tuesday morning after 19 people were killed during government crackdowns on Monday’s demonstrations.
Although Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday and the Gen Z Movement leadership urged demonstrators to retreat, protesters continued rampaging. They not only targeted public property but also looted and torched private businesses that generate employment in the country. Even banks, which safeguard citizens’ savings, were not spared from looting.
