Gen Z movement presents 6-point demand for talks with authorities

Kathmandu: The Gen Z movement has put forward a six-point demand as the basis for dialogue after President Ram Chandra Paudel and the Nepal Army called them to the negotiation table.

According to their statement, the first condition is an immediate investigation into assets looted over the past three decades and the nationalization of illegally acquired wealth. They have also demanded structural reform and reorganization of five fundamental sectors — education, healthcare, justice, security, and communications.

Furthermore, the movement insists that an interim government be formed under the leadership of the Gen Z generation to address the current political vacuum and instability. This interim authority, they stressed, must remain independent from the influence of failed traditional parties.

Its first priority would be to halt all violent activities, guarantee citizens’ security, and foster an environment of national unity. To achieve this, the army, police, and armed forces would be redirected towards serving the public.

The Gen Z movement also called for the immediate dissolution of the current House of Representatives, arguing that it has lost the people’s trust, in order to clarify the path of political transition.

They further demanded either a review or a complete rewriting of the constitution to reflect the aspirations of the new generation and the genuine will of the people, ensuring active participation from citizens, experts, and especially the youth.

Finally, they insisted that, following the interim period, Nepal must hold free, fair, and fully participatory elections with a directly elected executive leadership.
