Chaudhary Group vows resilience after widespread attacks during Gen-Z movement

Kathmandu: Chaudhary Group (CG), Nepal’s largest business conglomerate, has broken its silence after suffering devastating losses during the recent Gen-Z movement, pledging resilience, recovery, and an unwavering commitment to the nation despite what it described as one of the darkest chapters in its history.

In a heartfelt message addressed to the “CG Family,” Managing Director Nirvana Chaudhary said the movement—initially driven by young people demanding accountability and reform—was hijacked by hooligans and external forces, turning peaceful calls for change into violence, looting, and destruction.

“We witnessed acts of shocking cruelty: our Chairman personally targeted, our family homes attacked and burnt, our factories and offices damaged, and our showrooms looted,” Chaudhary wrote. “Decades of work, sacrifice, and commitment—reduced to flames in a matter of hours. It was not just an attack on property, but an attack on hope, on trust, and on the very idea of building something meaningful for our nation.”

Despite the scale of destruction, Chaudhary highlighted extraordinary acts of courage and solidarity among employees, managers, and leaders who risked their safety to protect assets, salvage resources, and continue serving customers. “Even as fire raged, our people did not give up,” he said, saluting staff who embodied “resilience, loyalty, and courage” amid chaos.

The letter underscored that while the group is hurt and shaken, it remains unbroken. “Those miscreants may burn our buildings, but they cannot burn our dreams. They may loot our showrooms, but they cannot loot our values. They may attempt to weaken us, but they cannot break the unity of our family,” the statement declared.

Positioning CG not just as a company but as a nation-builder, Chaudhary reminded the public of the group’s role as Nepal’s largest taxpayer, one of its largest employers, and a frontline responder during national crises—from earthquakes to floods to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“That mission is not finished. That responsibility is not shaken. That purpose is not lost,” he emphasized, vowing that CG will rebuild, recover, and rise stronger. “Out of this tragedy will come renewal—new strength, new ideas, new systems, and an even deeper commitment to the people of Nepal.”

Looking to the future, Chaudhary said history will not remember the flames that consumed the conglomerate, but rather how it emerged from them: “stronger, prouder, and more united than ever.”

He closed with gratitude to employees: “To every member of the CG family: thank you. You are the heart of this institution. Together, we will not just survive—we will build a brighter future.”
