Kathmandu: Death toll from the ongoing Gen-Z protests in Nepal has reached 51, according to Nepal Police.
Police spokesperson Binod Ghimire confirmed that among the dead are 21 protesters and three police personnel.
Eighteen individuals have been categorized under “other causes,” with deaths linked to incidents such as burning and electrocution. Among them is an Indian woman, Ghimire said.
The fatalities also include nine inmates who died during attempted prison escapes. Security forces opened fire as prisoners tried to flee, resulting in five deaths in Banke and two each in Ramechhap and Sindhuli.
