Death toll in Gen-Z protests rises to 72, government announces relief measures


Kathmandu: The death toll from the Gen-Z protests has reached 72, according to Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal.

Among them, 59 were protesters, 10 were prisoners, and three were security personnel.

Meanwhile, 133 protesters and 57 security personnel are still undergoing treatment for injuries.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced that the injured will receive free medical treatment, while those killed in the movement will be declared martyrs, with their families receiving compensation of Rs 1 million each.

According to Aryal, government and private buildings in most districts have suffered damage during the protests.
