Government declares Gen-Z protest victims as martyrs, announces Rs 1 million relief per family


Kathmandu: The government has decided to declare those who lost their lives in the Gen-Z movement as martyrs.

Each bereaved family will receive Rs 1 million in relief support.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who assumed office today, signed the decision.

According to Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, a total of 72 people died during the protests, including 59 demonstrators, 10 prisoners, and 3 security personnel. Additionally, 134 protesters and 57 police officers were injured.
