Four new ministers sworn into interim government


Kathmandu: Four new ministers have taken the oath of office and secrecy in the interim government Monday.

On the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath to Anil Kumar Sinha, Mahabir Pun, Madan Pariyar, and Jagdish Kharel.

Former judge Sinha has been given responsibility for three ministries. He will oversee the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The Ministry of Law had previously been under the charge of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

Similarly, journalist Kharel has been appointed Minister for Communication and Information Technology. Kharel was formerly the News Chief of Image TV.

Dr Pariyar, an agricultural scientist, has been appointed Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Scientist Mahabir Pun will serve as Minister for Education, Science and Technology.

Earlier, Prime Minister Karki had assigned Om Prakash Aryal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rameshwar Khanal to the Ministry of Finance, and Kulman Ghising to the Ministry of Energy, Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development.

With these appointments, Karki’s cabinet has now expanded to eight members.
