Kathmandu: Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal has reshuffled the responsibilities of several under-secretaries.
The move affects three officials, including Mahesh Baral, who has faced accusations of aiding interest groups in his role as chairperson of Nepal Reinsurance Company.
Baral, who had been serving as chief of the Financial Federalism Coordination Division, has been transferred to the Public Financial Management Training Centre. Within the Finance Ministry, the Training Centre is often regarded as a placement ground for sidelined officials.
Following Baral’s transfer, Sebantak Pokharel, previously chief of the Financial Sector and Institutions Coordination Division, has been appointed head of the Financial Federalism Coordination Division.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Acharya has been assigned to lead the Financial Sector and Institutions Coordination Division.
