Embark Unmath launches Global Math Debate League in Nepal, blending mathematical thinking with debate

Kathmandu: Embark Unmath, a leading institution in the field of education, has been transforming the way mathematics is taught and learned.

This organization, which teaches complex mathematical concepts through creativity and real-life connections, has now introduced its most innovative and exciting programme — the Global Math Debate League (GMDL) — bringing mathematical thinking and debate together in Nepal for the first time. Its main goal is to spread the language of mathematics across the world.

The Global Math Debate League turns mathematics into a language of reasoning, logic, and communication. The programme challenges students to see math not only as a tool for solving problems but also as a medium for expressing ideas and creating new ones.

Divesh Bathija, Co-founder of Embark Unmath, said:

“The Global Math Debate League reflects our belief that mathematics is much more than just numbers and calculations. This league provides a unique national platform where students can showcase that math is a thrilling field of logical thinking and problem-solving — one that is far more advanced and dynamic than traditional classrooms.”

This year, the Global Math Debate League is connecting over 5,000 students from schools across Nepal in a structured, multi-stage competition that highlights the power of mathematical reasoning through debate. The competition has three stages — the Screening Round, Regional Selection, and the National Round — creating a platform for collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

Through this process, students sharpen their reasoning skills, improve their public speaking abilities, and gain a deeper understanding of how mathematics applies to real-life problems.

By combining the art of mathematics and communication, the Global Math Debate League is nurturing a new generation of leaders who can think analytically and communicate effectively. The program not only strengthens students’ academic foundations but also celebrates mathematics as a medium of creativity, innovation, and leadership.

As the first initiative of its kind in Nepal, GMDL is building a nationwide community of young thinkers, debaters, and problem-solvers who view mathematics not merely as a subject, but as a way of thinking for life.
