Kathmandu hosts “Nepal Vegan Gallery 2025” to mark World Vegan Day

Kathmandu: Over 40 animal lovers, activists and artists gathered Saturday at Utpala Café, Bouddha, for Nepal Vegan Gallery 2025, an art exhibition celebrating World Vegan Day.

Organized by Animal Save Nepal with support from Utpala Café and Thrive Philanthropy, the event showcased more than 40 artworks exploring the themes of veganism, animal suffering, and the impacts of human activity and climate change. Each piece invited compassion and reflection on humanity’s relationship with animals and the planet.

The day featured music, dance, performances, and vegan exhibitions, creating a vibrant atmosphere that blended creativity with activism. Vegan food stalls from Loving Heart Vegan Restaurant, The White Lotus Vegan Café, and Vegan Food and Beverage House offered delicious plant-based dishes.

A highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled “Art & Activism,” where speakers including Krishna Gurung, Ravi Thapa, Abish Man Shakya, and Sarita Rajopadhyaya discussed how art can promote compassion and animal rights. Gurung, a veteran vegan artist, shared his 30-year journey toward a lifestyle that benefits animals, nature, and human health.

Author Raghu Aditya also delivered a special talk on the philosophy of veganism and ethical living, urging participants to align moral values with compassion for all beings.

“The motive of the event is to highlight the suffering of non-human animals and inspire people toward a compassionate lifestyle,” said organizer Dipesh Shrestha.

Now in its third edition, the Nepal Vegan Gallery continues to grow as a creative platform merging art, empathy, and education—advocating for a world free from animal exploitation and moving toward compassion, sustainability, and a plant-based future.
