Kathmandu: After two consecutive sessions of gains, Nepal’s benchmark stock index reversed course on Monday, shedding 8.24 points to close at 2,622.89.
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) opened higher and briefly touched 2,650 points in early trade before succumbing to selling pressure as investors booked profits.
Sunday’s session had seen NEPSE surge 30.75 points, following a 34.22-point jump on Thursday, reflecting renewed investor confidence amid improving macroeconomic signals.
Turnover moderated to Rs 6.05 billion on Monday, down from Rs 7.29 billion the previous day.
Of the 249 companies traded, 72 posted gains, 172 closed lower, and 5 remained unchanged.
