ABC Oil Industries posts massive growth, records Rs 4.36 billion turnover in 1 year

Kathmandu: Nepal-based ABC Oil Industries has achieved remarkable growth, reporting a turnover of Rs 4.36 billion (approximately US$ 32.5 million) in the last fiscal year (2024/25) — a staggering 208 percent jump compared to Rs 1.41 billion earned in 2024.

Just two years earlier in 2023, the company’s turnover stood at Rs 2.13 billion. Its net profit margin also improved significantly from 0.65 percent in 2024 to 3.8 percent in the latest fiscal year.

In the first three months of the current fiscal year alone, the company has already clocked Rs 1.6 billion in revenue.

Established in 2021 and starting commercial operations in May 2022, ABC Oil Industries officially became a public limited company in July 2025. The company, chaired by Sanjay Koirala, has an annual refining capacity of 60,000 metric tons — including 36,000 MT of palm oil, 12,000 MT of sunflower oil, and 12,000 MT of soybean oil.

The company imports crude oil from countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Argentina, China, and Ukraine, refines it, and supplies the domestic market while exporting a significant volume to India.

A major boost came in September 2024 when the Indian government raised import duties on crude sunflower oil to 20 percent and on refined oil to 32.5 percent, giving Nepali refiners a clear competitive edge and higher profit margins in the Indian market.

However, in June 2025, India reduced duties again — bringing crude oil import duty down to 10 percent and refined oil duty to 16.5 percent — slightly easing the advantage for Nepali exporters.

Despite the changing trade policies, ABC Oil Industries has secured a strong credit rating of Rs 2.6 billion (Rs 302.5 million long-term and Rs 2.3 billion short-term facilities), reflecting growing investor and lender confidence in its rapid expansion.
