Stock market opens week with double-digit decline


Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell sharply on the first trading day of the week, Sunday, dropping 19.92 points to close at 2,595.10.

This follows a decline of 10.66 points on the previous trading day, Thursday of last week. Before that, the index had risen consecutively over the prior three trading sessions.

Total turnover on Sunday reached Rs 4.52 billion, nearly matching the Rs 4.51 billion recorded on Thursday.

Of the companies traded today, shares of 43 companies gained value, while 207 declined. Seven companies remained unchanged.

SY Panel Nepal led the gainers, with its share price surging 9.99 percent.
