Litmus Industries sales slide 12% in 2025 despite expansion drive

Kathmandu: Nepal’s largest manufacturer of electrical wires and cables, Litmus Industries, reported a 12 percent drop in revenue in 2025 compared to 2024, extending a three-year downward trend in business performance.

The company recorded revenue of Rs 3.048 billion in the last fiscal year, down from Rs 3.445 billion in 2024, Rs 3.855 billion in 2023, and Rs 2.383 billion in 2022.

Net profit margins also edged lower, with the company earning a 2 percent net profit in the latest fiscal year, compared to 2.2 percent the year before.

Originally registered in 1978 as Lumbini Vidyut Udyog Pvt. Ltd., the firm was rebranded as Litmus Industries Limited in 2022.

It manufactures a wide range of electrical products including ABC cables, ACSR conductors, concentric cables, house wiring coils, enamel wires, paper-insulated strips, low-voltage power cables, and aluminum alloy rods, which are marketed under the Litmus Cable and Lotus Wire brands.

Despite declining revenues, the company is moving ahead with a major capacity expansion plan worth Rs 4 billion to scale up production at its existing facility.

The project is being executed in three phases: Package A has already been completed and has been operational since August 2025, Package B is about 39 percent complete, and Package C is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

Ownership of the company is concentrated among three main shareholders, with Sushil Gupta and Rohit Gupta each holding 39.86 percent stakes and M/S Equity Diversified Fund owning 20 percent.

Operated under the Ramesh Group, the company has obtained a credit rating covering total borrowings of Rs 8.67 billion, including Rs 270.8 million in long-term loans and Rs 8.4 billion in short-term debt.
