Kathmandu: Nepal’s stock market posted a strong double-digit gain on Thursday, the final trading day of the week. The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 27.19 points to close at 2,708.70.
The market had edged down slightly in the previous session on Wednesday, when the index slipped by 1.64 points.
Trading activity also picked up significantly on Thursday, with total turnover exceeding NPR 11.58 billion. This marked a sharp increase from Wednesday’s trading volume, which stood at just over Rs 7.45 billion.
Out of the companies traded on the day, share prices of 201 companies advanced, while 55 companies saw their prices decline. Shares of four companies remained unchanged.
During the session, Kalinchok Darshan Limited, Super Mai Hydropower, and Modi Energy hit the positive circuit breaker, with each of the three stocks rising by more than nine percent.
