Kathmandu: When Hyundai Santro first arrived in Nepal, the small-car market was dominated by Japanese brands, and confidence in Indian-made cars was still evolving.
In 1999, Hyundai India introduced its very first model—the Santro. Practical, thoughtfully designed, and comfortable for everyday use, it immediately stood apart. Making the moment even more special, Nepal became the very first export market for the Hyundai Santro. It was more than a launch—it was a proud milestone for both Hyundai and Nepal.
Santro transformed how Nepali customers viewed hatchbacks. It proved that a small car could be reliable, stylish, easy to maintain, and perfectly suited to Nepali roads and family needs. Over time, Santro became more than just a car—it became a trusted companion and the foundation on which Hyundai built its journey in Nepal.
Today, as we mark 25 years of Santro in Nepal, we celebrate not just an iconic model, but a legacy of trust that began with it.
On this special occasion, Hyundai India, in association with Hyundai Nepal, invites owners of the 2000 model year Hyundai Santro to get in touch with Hyundai Nepal. Selected customers will receive a special opportunity to be part of a small surprise planned by Hyundai.
