At a discussion on ‘Effective Implementation of Election Code of Conduct and Role of Stakeholders’ organised by the Election Commission and the Nepal Law Society at Janakpurdham today, Chief Minister Yadav stressed that protection of democratic norms and values would not be possible without full implementation of election code of conduct.
He pointed out that political parties, government bodies, security personnel, media and civil society should play honest roles for this purpose.
Likewise, Election Commissioner Sagun Shumsher JB Rana shared that election code of conduct is not just a legal document but a moral basis for fair election. He argued that shared commitment of all bodies concerned was indispensable to make election transparent and fair democratic exercise.
Clarifying that the EC would adopt a zero-tolerance policy in violation of election code of conduct, Rana underlined that election mobilization mechanism was strengthened.
