Kathmandu: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has announced the successful launch of Nepal Development Public Limited (NDP), a Rs 10 billion capital company established during his tenure with the participation of entrepreneurs from across the country.
Speaking at an event in the capital, Dhakal said the company was formed with the involvement of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and members of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). He noted that NDP will provide investment opportunities to entrepreneurs and innovators from all 77 districts of Nepal, ensuring nationwide ownership and participation.
According to Dhakal, the primary objective of the initiative is to promote innovation and stimulate industrial and business growth across the country. He explained that the Rs 10 billion paid-up capital will serve as equity, enabling the company to leverage investments of up to Rs 40–50 billion for larger projects. A structural framework has already been put in place to support such expansion.
Dhakal also addressed longstanding challenges faced by the private sector, particularly the controversy surrounding dedicated power line payment disputes. He said the issue escalated significantly during his tenure and that FNCCI had pushed for the formation of a quasi-judicial commission to seek a long-term resolution. Referring to the Lal Commission report, he urged authorities to move toward its implementation in order to settle the matter sustainably.
The launch of NDP, he emphasized, marks a strategic effort to mobilize domestic and diaspora capital into productive sectors, fostering entrepreneurship and accelerating economic development nationwide.
