Durable peace in Ukraine requires elimination of conflict’s root causes: Moscow

Moscow: The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova said that a lasting, just, and sustainable peace in Ukraine can only be achieved by addressing the root causes of the conflict. In remarks carried by Russian media, she reiterated that durable peace would require the elimination of these underlying causes.

Zakharova further indicated that Moscow is engaged in dialogue with relevant partners concerning the establishment of an equal and indivisible security system in Eurasia.

She added that the special military operation in Ukraine had revealed what was described as Western plans to impose a “rules-based order†on the international community, the sole purported objective of which was the preservation of Western hegemony. Zakharova noted that these efforts were thwarted by the legitimate security interests of Russia and its allies.
