Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board has launched a free shuttle bus service to help domestic and international air passengers travel smoothly during the election period. The initiative aims to ensure convenient transportation for travelers moving to and from Tribhuvan International Airport amid potential disruptions to regular vehicle services on election day.
According to the board, the shuttle buses are operating between the airport and several major hotels and key locations across Kathmandu Valley. The service began at 5:00 a.m. and is scheduled to run until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The board said the service was introduced in anticipation of transportation difficulties on election day, ensuring that tourists and airline passengers can reach the airport and their destinations without inconvenience. The shuttle buses are running on designated routes and making regular trips throughout the day.
The first route connects several central locations including Nepal Airlines Corporation, New Road, Kantipath, Thamel, Lainchaur, Mall Hotel, Nayabazar, Hotel Shanker, Radisson, Durbar Marg, Yak & Yeti, Nagpokhari, and Gaushala before reaching Dwarika’s Hotel and the airport.
The second route runs from Maharajgunj Chowk through Narayanthan, Ramada Hotel in Dhumbarahi, Chabahil, Hyatt Regency in Boudha, and Jorpati before heading to the airport via Gaushala.
The third route serves areas including Kupondole, Himalayan Hotel, Tripureshwor, Kalanki, Soaltee, Ekantakuna, Satdobato, Royal Tulip in Gwarko, Tinkune, and New Baneshwor before connecting to the airport via the Everest Hotel.
Acting Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, Sunil Sharma, urged passengers to make use of the service to ensure they can reach the airport on time and travel safely to their destinations on election day.
