EC reports approximately 60% voter turnout in parliamentary election



Kathmandu: The Election Commission has announced that approximately 60 percent of votes were cast in the House of Representatives elections concluded on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference after the election, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari stated that about 60 percent of the votes were cast and detailed reports are currently being collected.

He mentioned that voters who had entered the polling stations within the designated time were still casting their votes at some centres.

He stated that the election was completed peacefully, except for a few sporadic incidents. He added that once the ballot boxes are safely collected following the completion of voting, the counting of votes will begin immediately. He also informed that ballot boxes from 15 remote districts would be transported by helicopter.

He said that all ballot boxes from Taplejung, Rasuwa, Dolakha, Bajhang, and East Rukum would be delivered to the respective counting centres today via helicopter. Similarly, he noted that ballot boxes from Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, West Rukum, Gorkha, Manang, Bajura, and Humla would be transported to the counting centres by helicopter on Friday morning.
