Kathmandu: The final results of the House of Representatives election in Jhapa Constituency-5 have been officially announced, with Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Balen Shah securing a sweeping victory by a massive margin.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 106,372 votes were cast in the constituency. The final tally shows Shah receiving 68,348 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rival, CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli, who garnered only 18,734 votes.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress candidate managed to secure 1,821 votes, while the candidate from the Communist Party of Nepal received 1,461 votes.
With this result, Shah defeated Oli by an overwhelming margin of 49,614 votes, marking a historic victory in Jhapa-5.
