Kathmandu: Citizens Bank International Limited has successfully concluded the ninth edition of the Citizens Intra-Bank Indoor Cricket Tournament 2026, organized to mark the bank’s 19th anniversary. The two-day tournament was held in Kathmandu from March 13 to March 14, bringing together employees from across the institution.
The indoor cricket competition featured eight teams under the management group category, with active participation from 84 staff members representing various departments and branches of the bank. The event was designed to strengthen teamwork and foster a spirit of camaraderie among employees.
Addressing the program, Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Raj Pokharel said such initiatives help reinforce the institution’s corporate culture while reflecting its commitment to good governance and systematic discipline. He also expressed confidence that activities like these play an important role in promoting discipline, collaboration and a healthy lifestyle within the organization.
Pokharel later distributed prizes to the winners of the tournament. The bank said it intends to continue organizing similar activities in the future to further strengthen teamwork, positive energy and institutional unity among its employees.
The bank has recently earned international recognition, winning the prestigious “Bank of the Year” award in both 2024 and 2025. Earlier, in collaboration with PhonePe, it introduced Nepal’s first virtual credit card, the “Citizens Fonepay Credit Card.” It has also launched several new services, including the youth-focused “Citizens Gen-Z Savings Account” and an integrated online platform called “Citizens Digi Bank.”
In addition, the bank has introduced a special “Freelancer Savings Account” tailored for freelancers. It has also become the first bank in Nepal to allow customers to apply for share subscriptions and obtain CRN numbers directly through its mobile banking app. Other innovations include a cross-bank teller service that allows customers of other banks to withdraw cash from Citizens Bank branches by scanning a teller QR code.
Citizens Bank International currently serves around 1.997 million customers through a nationwide network that includes 200 branches across 61 districts, 169 ATMs, three extension counters and 42 branchless banking units, offering a range of modern banking services.
