Kathmandu: A helicopter operated by Mustang Air has gone out of contact in the Langtang region, raising concerns over the safety of those onboard.
According to officials, the Airbus AS350 B3 helicopter (registration 9N-ANO), piloted by Captain Suraj Thapa, was carrying a total of six people, including the pilot, when it lost communication on Friday afternoon.
The Tribhuvan International Airport office confirmed that the helicopter has been out of contact since around 1:30 PM in the Langtang area of Rasuwa district. Spokesperson Santosh Kumar Basnet stated that efforts are underway to gather more information and establish contact.
Preliminary reports suggest the helicopter may have landed in an area known as Lapche in Langtang. Rescue teams, with support from the Nepal Army, are attempting to reach the suspected location.
Authorities and the airline are continuing efforts to determine the helicopter’s exact status, while search and rescue operations are being mobilized in the remote mountainous terrain.
