Kathmandu: World-renowned Nepali mountaineer Mingma Gyalbo Sherpa has said that since Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) is the pride and identity of Nepal, the arrival of tourists could be increased only if Sagarmatha is promoted worldwide.
At a programme organised here today to inform about the Everest Tourism Award and the World Peace Summit, he emphasised the need of organizing such types of programmes to attract more investment in the tourism sector.
The A.M.S. Global Himalaya Foundation is going to organise the Award and Summit in Kathmandu from May 29.
Founding Chairperson of the Foundation, Satya Kala Tamang Lama, shared that the Award and Summit will be held in Kathmandu in the course of organsing various promotional events in order to inform the world about Nepal’s folk art, culture and tourism. Representatives of more than 30 countries will be participating in the event.
Lama added that the Foundation has already conducted such programmes in Japan, the Philippines, China, the UAE, Canada and Sudan.
On the occasion, tourism entrepreneurs Jimba Jyangbu Sherpa, Damodar Ghimire, Mingma Dorjee Sherpa, Asim Rai, and journalist Rishi Dhamala, among others, stressed the development of the tourism sector for the country’s economic prosperity.
