Kathmandu: Prime Minister Balen Shah held a collective meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions based in Nepal on Wednesday, underscoring the government’s commitment to balanced diplomacy and international cooperation.
The interaction took place at Singha Durbar, the central administrative hub of the Government of Nepal. Representatives from a wide range of countries, including India, Pakistan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Switzerland, France, Israel, Japan, Bangladesh, Germany, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, China, and the United States, as well as the United Nations, were present.
During the meeting, ambassadors congratulated Prime Minister Shah on his appointment and extended best wishes for a successful tenure. They also expressed their commitment to supporting Nepal’s development efforts and working collaboratively for outcomes that benefit the Nepali people.
Prime Minister Shah reiterated Nepal’s balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties with neighbouring countries, friendly nations, and development partners based on trust, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.
Highlighting peace as a common global priority, he stressed that the safety and welfare of Nepali migrant workers and the diaspora remain key concerns for the government. He also reaffirmed his administration’s focus on good governance, economic growth, and improving the living standards of citizens.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, Prime Minister’s political advisor Asim Shah, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, and other senior government officials.
