Schools directed to refund illegally collected fee

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed all concerned schools to refund illegally collected fees.

The ministry issued a press statement on Wednesday, instructing all concerned to refund the amount after receiving complaints that some institutional schools were enrolling students before the start of the academic session 2083 and charging fees higher than the approved standards, in violation of the prevailing law and the order of the esteemed Supreme Court.

“Despite previous directives, complaints have been received that some institutional schools are still charging fees illegally, hence all concerned are directed to refund the illegally collected fees to students in accordance with Section 16 D (6) of the Education Act (amended), 2028,” reads the statement.
