Kathmandu: Entrepreneur Ramchandra Sangai has confirmed his candidacy for the post of Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry following extensive consultations with business leaders and former presidents of the federation.
Sangai, who has been actively involved in the FNCCI for the past 22 years, previously served as its Vice President. His long association with the organization dates back to the tenure of Ravibhakta Shrestha, and he later held key roles during the leadership of Shekhar Golchha, including Vice President representing the associate sector and Chair of the Employers’ Council.
Currently a director at Triveni Group, Sangai said he is entering the race with a commitment to protect and promote the interests of the business community. The group operates dozens of enterprises across manufacturing, services, and agriculture, employing around 18,000 workers. He also highlighted his close engagement with small and medium enterprises, stating that he understands their challenges and is determined to address them.
Sangai emphasized that FNCCI needs leadership capable of understanding business problems, generating employment, boosting production, and effectively advocating for the private sector with the government. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector, along with concrete policy reforms.
He noted that recent government commitments to improve the investment climate, ensure private sector security, and promote industrial growth within defined timelines have encouraged the business community. Referring to recent parliamentary remarks by ruling party leadership, he said such assurances have further boosted confidence among entrepreneurs.
The 60th Annual General Meeting of the FNCCI is scheduled for Chaitra 29 and 30 in Kathmandu, where the newly elected executive committee will select the Senior Vice President.
