Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has made public a draft of an 18-point “National Commitment” document, placing governance reform at its core and inviting feedback from political parties and key stakeholders.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has called for suggestions with the aim of finalizing a shared national framework that reflects broader consensus.
The initiative follows an earlier 100-point action plan, which envisioned consolidating key promises from various party manifestos into a unified national commitment for implementation. The newly released draft outlines priorities across 18 major sectors, including economic stability and reform, agricultural strengthening and self-reliance, tourism and civil aviation, energy development and utilization, as well as mining, minerals, and infrastructure development.
It also incorporates areas such as employment generation and prosperity, education and healthcare, forest conservation, environment and climate change, along with good governance and anti-corruption efforts. Administrative reform, public service delivery, and the promotion of e-governance and technological advancement are also key components.
In addition, the draft covers social justice and inclusion, international diplomacy and foreign relations, and the mobilization of knowledge, skills, and capital from the Nepali diaspora. Sectors like sports, disaster management, and the cooperative and microfinance industries have also been included, as the government seeks comprehensive input before finalizing the document.
