Kathmandu: In view of the government’s intensified efforts to make civil employees accountable, the National Vigilance Centre under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has conducted a surprise check to know about the office attendance of the employees.
The office chiefs were recommended to take action against 632 civil employees, reasoning that they were absent from the office during duty hours.
Spokesperson at NVC, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, informed that the NVC made such a recommendation in accordance with Section 55 of the Civil Service Act, 2049. The truants should be handed a warning letter and its record maintained at the office, he added.
Similarly, the employees receiving a warning twice could be taken departmental action as per the law.
Information on the action taken against some employees was also received at NVC, according to Bhatta.
NVC has been conducting the monitoring of government offices in all seven provinces.
