Tikapur (Kailali): The Tikapur Municipality of Kailali district has begun providing technical and computer training to 40 youths in a bid to foster self-entrepreneurship.
Municipality’s Employment Service Centre informed that 20 youths are provided training on computer skills and 20 others on printing machine operation. The training kicked off on Saturday.
There will be a total of 90 hours for training, said Chief Administrative Officer Suman Dhital, adding that once the youths are equipped with computer skills and printing machine skills, they would be able to operate printing machines and run computer services.
“Technical skills help youths become self-entrepreneurs. At a time when computer skills have been essential, it is very useful training. Printing business is also thriving of late,” Dhital viewed, explaining the rationale of training.
Economic development committee coordinator and chair of ward no 7 in the municipality, Yagya Prasad Neupane, also hoped the training would help generate jobs within the country. “Although small in scale, the training would curb the youth’s trend of going abroad after completing Grade 12,” he argued.
Chief of the economic development section, Ranju Acharya, informed that the local government launched the capacity development scheme so that a skilled workforce could be prepared within the country.
