Kathmandu: The government has abolished excise duties on 360 different goods as part of a major tax reform initiative announced in the national budget for fiscal year 2026/27.
Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle unveiled the measure while presenting the budget during a joint session of the federal parliament on Friday.
The move is seen as part of the government’s broader effort to simplify Nepal’s complex tax structure, reduce administrative burdens, and streamline revenue collection by eliminating numerous smaller and scattered taxes and duties.
