Government to facilitate angel investment in PEVC through new limited liability partnership law

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has announced a strategic move to allow angel investors to participate in private equity and venture capital (PEVC) funds, aiming to broaden the nation’s investment landscape. This initiative is designed to provide individual investors with a clear legal framework to channel capital into high-growth startups and innovative enterprises through institutional investment vehicles.

To implement this provision, the government plans to draft and introduce a new Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) law focused on investment promotion. This legislative reform is expected to provide a more flexible and secure structure for partnerships, encouraging greater collaboration between private investors and specialized fund managers.

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Waglé shared these details while presenting the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament. By modernizing the legal framework for investment, the government intends to foster a more vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and attract much-needed risk capital into the domestic market.
